The Angel Express Expedition

The next few months promises to be both busy and fulfilling for Alick Brooke, retired Chief Information Officer of Alberta Children's Services. 

Alick and “Zeus” along with Guy Bourassa and his mounts, Chip and Cheyanne, are currently on a horseback expedition to raise funds and public awareness on Child Exploitation. 

The expedition began May 9, 2012, their journey will take them from Edmonton to Halifax with them returning to Edmonton in August, 2012 .

After working with children in one way or another for over 38 years, Alick feels that spending 3 mths in the saddle to raise awareness is the least he can do to help these children. "If we can help even one child, then 3 months in the saddle will be well worth it."    <read more...>

Message from the Zebra Centre

The Zebra Child Protection Centre exists to improve the life experiences of all children that have experienced abuse in our community (Edmonton, Alberta).  As a community organization, the Zebra Centre believes the responsibility of responding to child abuse allegations should be shared by everyone in our community.  And with that responsibility comes the requirement for action. 

It is through the actions of caring and passionate individuals like Alick that children that have been exploited and experienced abuse are able to find their ‘new normal”.  We know that child abuse impacts families from all walks of life. Raising public awareness is a critical means to ensuring that the necessary community supports and resources are available to each child that may need them.  Alick's Angel Express Ride
will help to do exactly that especially within the communities he visits.
